THE EARLEY LAW FIRM
Hello. My name is Matt Earley, and music is my passion. Since 1999, I have worked in the music industry in a variety of roles at Sony Music Distribution, Campus Records, Inc., and now EDGE Entertainment Distribution. At EDGE, I work with independent music retailers across the nation in expanding the depths of their catalogs, and developing new and established artists' recorded music offerings. I also am a lawyer, and in my law practice I represent musicians, entrepreneurs, and small businesses. I am truly grateful that I have been able to merge my passions for music and business development into my career.
I realize that every musician has a different set of goals and aspirations. Many wish to become international superstars, with mass appeal and corporate endorsements galore. Others do not care about obtaining such widespread appeal, and care more about the perfection of their art and connecting with their fan base. In either case, the very base of your success (or lack thereof) is having the time, freedom, and energy to practice and perform your art. For this reason, I do not take the "one-size-fits-all" approach to assisting my music clients. I want to help you in your legal and business matters; allowing you to have the time and resources to focus on your art, and I do this by learning your artistic aspirations.
I primarily work with indie rock groups and singer-songwriters, but welcome inquiries from artists of other genres. I work with "baby bands" and also acts of national acclaim. Should you become a client of my firm, my primary duty will be to work with your manager(s), accountant(s), recording label/distributor, publisher, booking agent(s), and other members of your team to be sure that every document adequately and correctly spells out the deal at hand; with the ultimate aim toward accomplishing your career goals.
I love music. Period. I want to hear your music. Even if you do not feel the need to work with me on a professional level, I welcome your contact so that I can hear your art. I do not reply to all submissions, but please do feel free to reach out.
My office phone number is (614) 360-3275, or you can email me directly at me@sportsentertainmentlaw.com.
